Under 18 Finals

Umpire appointments announced for the final day of the CA Under 18 National Championships

Congratulations to Ashlee Kovalevs and Steve Dionysius who are appointed to the CA Under 18 National Championships Final today between ACT/NSW Country and New South Wales Metro.

Kovalevs is standing in her fifth Under 18 Championships and marks an excellent tournament with appointment to the Final. Hailing from Western Australia, Kovalevs joined the Under 18 Championships directly after the final seminar of the Australian Sports Commission National Officiating Scholarships Program which concluded in Canberra. Kovalevs first umpired in the WACA Premier Competition in 2012 and has since risen through the ranks in Perth. Kovalevs’ standing as one of Western Australia’s up and coming officials has been recently recognised when she became the first female umpire to officiate in a WACA Men’s Premier First Grade match.

Standing in his second CA National Championships this season, Dionysius also stood in the CA Under 17 National Championships in Brisbane throughout September and October having officiated in the same tournament last season. 2016/17 was particularly busy for the Queenslander standing in both the WNCL and Rebel WBBL02 competitions whilst fulfilling a full Queensland Premier Cricket schedule. Dionysius’ appointment to the Under 18 Female National Championships Final caps a successful tournament for the Queenslander.

Today's finalists also competed in the T20 Final last Friday with victory going to ACT/New South Wales Country. The T20 Final Umpires were Ashlee Kovalevs and South Australian Eloise Sheridan.

The Final will be held at Kippax Oval No. 1 from 10:00AM (local time). To watch the game via live streaming, please click here. Four other games will be played around Canberra to close the Championships today, with appointments as follows:-
