Ward officiates in Hong Kong T20 Blitz

Australian Umpire John Ward to stand in the Hong Kong T20 Blitz tournament.

Starting today, the five team franchise tournament consists of double header fixtures each day until the top teams play for the title on Sunday. Teams are allowed a total of five overseas representatives alongside local domestic players, which feature the likes of Tillakaratne Dilshan, Misbah Ul-Haq, Kumar Sangakkara and Darren Sammy. Brian Lara will also take up an off-field role, acting as mentor the Galaxy Gladiators team.

Although in the midst of the Australian cricket season, Ward’s involvement was made possible due to a break in his own hectic umpiring schedule. This is the second edition of the tournament, with compatriot Paul Wilson having officiating in the inaugural season last May. Ward is no stranger to this type of appointment, having officiated in the last two editions of the Caribbean Premier League.
