International umpires officiate during Victorian Country Week tournament

Cotton and Middlebrook

On Thursday 4 February an international flavour came to Windy Hill Essendon for the Country Week match between Wangaratta and Mornington.

The two umpires officiating in this match were from New Zealand and England.

Christchurch local Kim Cotton was in Melbourne on an annual exchange program between the Canterbury Cricket Association and Cricket Victoria. Meanwhile James Middlebrook is a first class cricketer who is currently transitioning to an umpire. Middlebrook has played over 500 First Class; One-Day and Twenty20 matches with Essex, Northampton and last year was a member of the Yorkshire championship team.

As well as umpiring as part of Country Week, both officials also umpired a Premier First Grade fixture whilst in Victoria.
