Australian Cricket along with States and Territory Associations have embarked on an Industry first by offering Free Community (Level 1) coaching courses in 2017-18 to the grassroots cricket community!
The initiative will develop coaching skills around Australia, with an emphasis on junior cricket, by making the courses more accessible to parents, volunteers and all budding cricket coaches who devote their time and effort to ensure children of all backgrounds can enjoy the game we love!
This will be a first for cricket – as the Community coaching course usually costs $120 per person. We expect more than 3,000 people across the country to undertake the free courses during the 2017-18 season.
The Community (Level 1) coaching courses will include a module on the revised Junior Formats being implemented across the country and provide access to hundreds of online videos and a mobile App.
Coaches will also be reminded of their impact on children through discussions on;
• The impact of a fun, safe and inclusive learning environment with a ‘duty of care’ to all players;
• The important role they play in helping children learn the game and develop their skills
